    We bring in the new year with an insight into the the Bowland Fells, courtesy of a glossy new book by photographer Andy Stansfield. He records this 'area of astounding beauty' through the seasons in glorious colour and writes about why he thinks it's special. We also meet the voice of the TV football results listing, Mike West, feature the Lancashire social club where no women members are allowed, and look at the wealth of architecture in Manchester.

    We celebrate Christmas by showcasing the career of Bury's Suzanne Shaw, we look at the woman Brewer from Standish, spotlight Lancashire's booming cider industry, and we reveal how to prepare the ultimate Christmas dinner... it is Christmas after all. Sixteen pages of fashion and a celebrity diary top of this fantastic magazine.

    This issue there are at least four articles which I feel sum up what the Lancashire Magazine is all about and why it's different to its rivals. Jonas Holdsworth celebrates Lancashire day, Harold Heys writes a moving remembrance day piece about a doomed Darwen private, Angela Kelly talks about Bolton and Graham Johnston offers an insight into Burscough.

    There are quite a few famous faces in the pages this month, starting with Liverpool's Claire Sweeney. England football (now ex) manager Fabio Capello, Ken Dodd, Bruce Forysthe and Rolf Harris all make an appearance, alongside features on Sir Cliffe Richard and Bob Dylan in our celebrity diary.

    We celebrate the 10th anniversary of the National Wildlife Centre in Liverpool and on a cultural theme we look into the new transport museum in Bury. We look at the scenic appeal of Worsley. We select some spectacular scenic churches for you to view on page 58, and visit Arnside and Silverdale.

    July 2011

    We pay tribute to the North West Air ambulance, a fabulous charity that flew out on over 1,250 rescue missions in 2010. We talk to Lancashire's 'Indiana Jones', travel to the wonderful landscape of the Langsdales in the Lakes and discuss the contraversial topic of shale gas under a major part of Lancashire.

    June 2011

    In this issue we learn about the artist Ken Burdon who has created evocative images of the Lake District, Chris Tofalos has captured the area of Saddleworth and its delightful stone villages. We celebrate 25 years of outdoor performances by the Dukes Theatre, and go in search of middle-earth, seeing the areas that inspired JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
